Australis Reveals New Ship for 2017

Expedition cruise line Australis confirmed its intention to build a new vessel to replace Via Australis, which was sold to Lindblad Expeditions and leaves the fleet in April.

Australis will stay only with the 210-passenger Stella Australis. However, the company announced that by the end of 2017 it will add a second ship.

“It will offer more cabins in a streamlined, modern vessel, comparable to the Stella Australis. The new ship should be completed by the end of 2017,” said the line in a prepared statement.
Stella Australis was built at ASENAV shipyard in Chile. According to North America market manager, Jorge Rodriguez:

“This represents a great opportunity for Australis to increase our offerings with a faster, leaner, and more modern ship, which will be similar to the Stella Australis, the ship we launched in 2010.”
