Cunard Adds Britannia Cabins to QV

21 March 2016

Cunard will add an unspecified number of Britannia Club cabins to its Queen Victoria ship during her next drydock June 2017. The move follows the introduction of 15 new single cabins and 30 more Britannia Club cabins to flagship Queen Mary 2 (QM2).

This is part of the ‘remastering’ of the liner during a dry dock period May 27 - June 21.

Cunard line also announced that all accommodation on QM2 would be refurbished in time for the world cruise of the flagship in 2017. As part of the revamp, coffee and tea makers will be available in each cabin.

According to the company, the decision to increase the number of Britannia Club cabins on Queen Victoria was due to passenger demand. Angus Struthers, Cunard marketing director, said:

“The changes being made are a direct response to our discerning passengers increasing desire for space and style, and to meet their rising expectations of luxury.”
The line uncovered new design for the Queens Grill Duplex Apartment and Penthouse Suites aboard Queen Mary 2, as well as videos on culinary changes and ship’s redesign during Seatrade Cruise Global conference in Florida. Struthers added:

“Cunard was the innovator of the luxury suite category, and this remastering will further showcase the richness of ship’s stateroom design, intimate dining experiences and White Star service. Guest feedback was especially important as we explored the redesign of the staterooms. We believe the new designs on board provide a more distinctive Cunard character and will elevate the guest experience.”
The line revealed that the executive chefs of Cunard, Nicholas and Mark Oldroyd, work together on creating new menus and further enhancing ship’s fine dining.
