Ovation of the Seas Extends Maiden Season in Australia

6 April 2016

Royal Caribbean announced that the Ovation of the Seas ship will extend her maiden season in Australia and will return for the 2017-2018 local summer.

The 168,666 GT vessel will arrive in Sydney on December 15. Ovation of the Seas was scheduled to depart January 23, 2017 but according to md Australasia Adam Armstrong, the level of interest in what would be the largest and newest cruise ship based in local waters had exceeded all expectations.

According to Armstrong, more than 90% of the ship's maiden Australian season had been sold. To meet such high demand the line was offering 4 extra sailings from Sydney which would extend the season into late February 2017. Armstrong said:

‘This extension of her maiden season, plus her subsequent return in summer 2017/18, reaffirms Australia’s position as one of the most significant cruise markets in the world’.
Passengers booked on the Jan 23 sailing next year out of Sydney to Singapore are being offered first choice of the new cruises to rebook, including a revised repositioning itinerary scheduled for 4 weeks later.
