Oceania Cruises' Sirena Officially Christened

28 April 2016

The newest Oceania Cruises' ship, 684-passenger Sirena, was officially christened yestarday (April 27) in Barcelona.

Godmother Claudine Pepin, daughter of Oceania's culinary director, renowned Jacques Pepin, on the second try successfully smashed a bottle of Moet & Chandon across Sirena's hull.

Sirena previously sailed as Ocean Princess for Princess Cruises. The vessel has just completed an extensive 35-day, $50-million refurbishment. Sirena is largely identical in size and style to Oceania's Insignia, Nautica and Regatta, but there are some differences. While all cabins got makeovers, including new furnishings, bedding and artwork, the owners', penthouse and vista suites have redesigned layouts and marble bathrooms with roomy showers.

Oceania Cruises' Sirena is the first of line's R-class ships to get Red Ginger eatery - a standout on Marina and Riviera. Some of her public rooms, including Horizons - ship's top-deck lounge, feature a more contemporary ambience. To make room for Red Ginger, Oceania also created the new steakhouse-Italian seafood restaurant Tuscan Steak, that combines menus of Polo Grill and Toscana, found throughout the rest of the fleet.
