Celestyal Cruises Ship to be Based in Cuba Year-Round

21 April 2016

Celestyal Cruises confirmed it would sail year-round in Cuba starting on November 21.

Celestyal Cruises, operating under the name Cuba Cruise, has based its Celestyal Crystal ship in Havana from December to March, and during the summer repositions to Greece.

The line will drop the "Cuba Cruise" name and from November will rebrand as Celestyal Cruises.

Through December 2016 and for all of 2017 the company will sail 7-night all-inclusive voyages that include 2 days in Havana and a visit to Maria La Gorda. Additional Cuban calls include historic Santiago de Cuba and 18th-century Cienfuegos.

The cruise will embark from Havana every Monday, and from Montego Bay, Jamaica - every Friday.

Celestyal Cruises was the first to offer round-Cuba sailings, back in 2013. Since then, other lines have realized the potential of Cuba, including MSC Cruises which has based its MSC Opera in Havana from last December, and deploys a second vessel in Havana later this year.

In May Fathom, operating the rebranded P&O Cruises ship Adonia, should become the first US cruise line to offer sailings to the island.

CEO of Celestyal Cruises, Kyriakos Anastassiadis, said:

"Our 2015-2016 Cuba Cruise season, our third, was our best yet, and thus, to respond to demand for our authentic Cuban product, our fourth season will begin 21 November 2016, four weeks earlier than last year, and will sail year-round. We look forward to immersing even more passengers from all over the world in our authentic Cuban experience."
