Australian Volume Increased for Cunard Line

2 March 2016

Australia is No.3 source market for Cunard Line after the UK and North America, and No.2 after the UK for the world cruises of the company, according to David Rousham, international development director.

At a press conference in Sydney on February 29 (Monday) aboard Queen Victoria, Rousham said that 1,200 Australians were leaving the same night aboard Victoria’s 8-night round trip from Sydney to Kangaroo Island, Hobart and Melbourne. 250 Australians were on the entire 120-night voyage of the 2,014-passenger ship, which left Southampton January 10 and returns on May 10.

Rousham added the volume of Australian cruisers continued to increase, particularly on Mediterranean sailings which had seen a decline in passengers from the US.

Cunard’s 2018 world cruises are being released 5 months early and will be available Down Under at the same time as the UK. According to Rousham, the launch was planned to coincide with the arrival of Queen Mary 2 in Sydney on March 10.

Rousham shared that Cunard was looking at becoming an all-inclusive product. He said that would probably be introduced for Grill cruise passengers and that, long-term, it might extend to all classes on its 3 ships.
